If I had to dedicate a song

I have been happily writing stories for nine years now. Wow! Almost an entire decade of putting words together and then all those random words create a story - as if they were all meant to be together in one book.

If I had to dedicate a song to each one of my stories I would pick these. Some of these songs came out long after I wrote the words, yet I felt such a connection between the lyrics and the story.

LAYERED: When Caitlyn meets Shayne, she is immediately drawn to his haunted eyes, even though her best friend, Sophia, warns her to stay away from him because he might be contagious. You see, the darkness found Shayne and he is not strong enough to fight it, and inevitably he loses the battle. Caitlyn feels herself spiral and the darkness wants her soul as well until she starts playing a Life Simulation game and she creates Hannah. Caitlyn does everything in her power to drive Hannah into the darkness, but Hannah has hope.

MY RECYCLED SOUL: Elizabeth has a crush on a boy and the day he notices her, her stepdad announces they are moving to a different country. She is devastated, but in Ireland, she meets Jared and meeting him knocks the air right out of her lungs and it is as if she had always know him. Something happens, and because of a silly decision by Elizabeth their paths separate and then Elizabeth meets Joshua. Through a series of events, some sad and some happy, Elizabeth comes to the place where she was always meant to be.

FORNEVER: Heather should have married Jayden years ago, but a witch at the Salem Witch Trials cursed her and now she keeps choosing Kieran. When Heather meets Kieran, she does not realise the dark shadows in her peripheral vision is connected to him. Shadows waiting for her to choose him. Jayden has loved her all these years, even though the curse has kept them apart. What is a guy to do to get the girl he loves to choose him? Only love's first kiss can break the curse.

THE VAMPIRE PIRATE'S DAUGHTER: When Susie moves to a new country with Amanda and Shayne, she comes face to face with a boy whom she craves much more than just his blood. Then, one night after she is kidnapped, she cannot hide who or what she is anymore. Despite her obsessive thirst for blood, they grow close, but Susie soon realizes the safest place would be to move back to the chateau in France with Amanda. Here she meets a rogue bandit of vampires, not accustomed to living in the twenty-first century, but when she gives her heart completely and utterly to Callum, he leaves the chateau. Then in a violent attack, Susie is bitten by another vampire and turns human.  When given a choice to be turned again, will she do it?

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Taylor Fergusson should have died just days after she was born. Accidents and mishaps kept happening to her until she and Daimhin, the Guardian Angel sent to fetch her, made a deal. When upper management discovers Daimhin did not take Taylor's soul the first time he was supposed to, his own future is in jeopardy until he discovers his destiny and his choices are being assessed by a higher power. As a love grows between a mortal and an angel, Daimhin can do nothing to stop the inevitable.

The Secret To Being Happy

I know I'm supposed to be a role model and all that nonsense, pretend my life's perfect, so today I'm stepping from my dark corner and letting you know, you're not alone when you pretend to be happy.

A month from now, I'll probably read this and cringe! I might even delete it, but then again, once I hit that publish button it will be out there forever, won't it? You'd just have to search real hard to find it. Much like I'm searching for my soul most days.

It's said that a lost soul is someone who has had a tragedy, so devastating, they wonder constantly about the purpose of life, and I am one of those lost soul who just happens to write stories.

Yes. Most days, I think my stories aren't good enough and that's why I give them away for free but writing has turned out to be my therapy which I disguise in simple prose to pretend it has nothing to do with me personally.

Readers will often say: “It’s as if I’m meant to read your stories.” When I get feedback like this it is as if I find pieces of my soul stuck to that reader, because they felt it, they saw the me no-one knows, they related and connected with the real me.

Recently I wrote an adult contemporary romance, because I thought I could just write a story without all the feelings attached to it - turns out I can't because in this story, her boyfriend dies and so there we were, back at square one.

I just googled how to be happy, and here's what I found:

Change your thoughts. People tend to remember negative experiences and forget positive ones but you can train yourself to be happy.

Look for the positive in all your experiences. It’s not only good for your overall happiness, it’s good for your physical health, and boosts your immune system.

Cultivate optimism. No matter what happens - good or bad - happiness is temporary and tends to quickly revert to a baseline level. Some people have a higher baseline happiness level than others, due to genetics.

To sum that up:

Light up your face with happiness - Hide all of your sadness.

What I think:

Just smile as you pull yourself out of the darkness of being sad and eventually you'll be so used to being happy, it will become a natural state.

“It’s said a person’s eyes are the windows to their soul, but a lost soul cannot be found so easily.” – Lynette

Picking The Perfect Social Network

People say, the most common form of stress we experience is the feeling of being overwhelmed with far too much to do and having too little time to do it in.

That's how I feel at the moment.

I am trying so hard to find time to write, it is becoming a seriously stressful situation and I am one of those people where when I feel overwhelmed I like to just curl up in to a bundle and watch Netflix all day, every day.

This is not good!

Each day, Monday to Saturday before the sun peeks over the horizon to see me already waiting for it, I log into my social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter and Google+

I used to have a couple more, like Pinterest and Wattpad, but those have all been left behind in 2016 due to the same problem.

My intention is always just to do a quick scroll-by, like some stuff, comment here and there, catch up on all my notifications, but when I look again - even though it feels like minutes - it has been hours and it is already past lunch time.

This also means my personal life is being consumed by me being an online social butterfly. A social butterfly is a term for a person who is always socializing.

So, the stories I wanted to write when I opened my eyes from sleep and dragged myself from bed, remains unwritten. To be written tomorrow, which, truth be told, will just be the same as today - full of false promises I make to myself.

My solution to this disastrous situation?

One social network.

It was not easy to decide which one, and it was not a magic hat solution. Each social network has its own benefits and don't get me wrong, I am beyond greatful for every follower I have on all my social networks, but I cannot be everywhere and still write stories.

My choice: Facebook

On my Facebook Page, you can learn anything about me you would ever like to know. Once a week, on a Sunday, I post something personal - mostly what I had done that day. I also always reply to all comments and messages.
